Meet Furaha.

My name is Furaha Mbeyela. I was born in 1991 in the Iringa region of Tanzania. I started attending primary school in 1998 and I completed my primary studies in 2004. During that time, I lived with my mother because my daddy had passed away when I was very young.

In our family there are six children, and I am the only girl. Our life was very difficult because my mum didn’t have a job. My mum became very weak since she was alone; it was difficult for her to take care of the family. My mum became sick and later on she also passed away. I was extremely sad and I cried a lot. After the funeral, our relatives called a meeting to discuss how they could help us. I was anxious for the state of my life during that time.

I stayed at Iringa until my brother came and took me to live with him in Moshi. He promised my relatives that he would make sure I went to school, but what happened was quite different. When I reached Moshi, I became a housegirl serving in my brother’s household. When I tried to ask him about when I would be able to go to school, he didn’t answer me. My brother was treating me in a harsh way. I was unhappy and didn’t want to continue living with my brother, so I decided to go back to Iringa.

I lost hope to ever resume my studies again. It is only because God showed me the way that I was able to be a student again; God helped me come to Hananasif Secondary School. At the present time, I am a member of HOCET and I really appreciate the things that God has done through his servant Hezekia Mwalugaja. This is a unique school in Tanzania.

My ambition is to become a pilot, so I need people who will help me to continue further with my studies. I believe that I’m not an orphan because God is my father. I would like to conclude by saying that God is good all the time. I love Him and trust Him. He is the one who enables me to study well.
