On Saturday, November 20th, we’re celebrating HOCET Secondary School’s founding class with our school’s first graduation ceremony. But what’s next for our 12 Form IV students? Kujali field staff member Kate Kessenich is spearheading a new program, Maendelo*, to provide transitional support, life skills training, and guidance counseling to our students while they await their Form IV results (to come in Feb 2011).
Kate begins facilitation today of part I of the program: a 5-week intensive series of workshops that provide students’ with opportunities to learn basic computer & research skills, write their first CV, prepare school applications, develop oral and e-communications skills, and explore the characteristics of leaders, critical thinkers, and change agents. After the holiday, the program will continue again with group projects, community engagement, and further school admission preparations. We’ll keep you posted!
