We are excited to welcome our second class of graduates to Kujali’s Bridge Program!
Kujali’s Bridge Program provides life skills training, academic & career counseling, and post-secondary scholarship opportunities to our graduates. Many of our students lack a network of support that is able to provide the resources and guidance needed to help them prepare for life after secondary school. Through Bridge, we seek to expand our continuum of care to our students and to play a key role role in helping them achieve their academic & career aspirations.
Over the last few months, our Bridge Scholars have been busy. Through Bridge, they’ve researched college programs, prepared applications, set up e-mail addresses and practiced communication & presentation skills. They’ve learned about budgeting, time management, sex education, and much more. They’ve even studied Nobel Peace Prize Winners who changed the world through non-violent action and a commitment to social justice.

Our Bridge Program is available to students immediately after graduation, and provides ongoing support to students during and after their post-secondary school transition. It is structured into the following three parts:
Part I: Intensive Life Skills Workshops
Immediately following the graduation, students are invited to join Bridge for 4-6 weeks of intensive life skills training workshops. This is where students receive training in key areas such as computer skills, organization and time management, budgeting, communication skills, sex education, life planning, and more. This typically takes place in November after the October graduation ceremony.
Part II: Academic & Career Counseling
After national examination scores are released in February of the following year, students gather at Kujali’s office to begin doing research on college and vocational training programs in which they are interested. Students work together, and also help Kujali build its database of higher education programs that will benefit future students. Each student is provided with bus fare and supplies to help them visit schools, make copies of applications and important program materials, and prepare their own college and/or vocational training applications. Students also continue their training in computer skills, and can opt-in to an introductory course on youth entrepreneurship and business start-up. Along side their research, students are provided with guidance counseling to help them identify life paths that align their interests, strengths, and opportunities.
Part III: Scholarships & Support
After national examination scores are released in February of the following year, students gather the final information needed in order to submit applications to their programs of choice. At this time, students are also invited to submit applications to receive scholarship funding through Kujali’s Bridge Program. Kujali’s scholarship criteria are based on academic performance, character, and leadership skills. The number of scholarships Kujali offers is strictly based on fundraising ability & financial capacity.
