Teaching Climate Change In ELA and Social Studies, Grades 5-12

10:00am – 3:00pm | Saturday, May 17, 2025
Virtual or In-person
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Parsons Lab, Building 47 | 15 Vassar Street, Cambridge, MA
Are you a middle or high school ELA or history teacher looking to integrate climate change into your subject area? Come join us for a day-long workshop at MIT, where we will explore recent approaches to teaching climate change in the humanities and hear from guest speakers, including a climate scientist and leaders from local climate initiatives.

There will be opportunities for participants to share any work they've done around climate change in their classroom. We’ll also discuss the potential for an ongoing online community to support teacher-led development of climate-focused humanities curriculum.

We want to express our thanks to Mass Humanities for making this workshop possible through their Expanding Massachusetts Stories grant.
